Ten Questions Nursing Home Administrators Should     Ask Prospective Rehabilitation Providers

The quality of your rehabilitation provider’s service, and their ability to keep you Medicare compliant, have an enormous impact on your overall reputation for patient care as well as your fiscal stability. Your rehabilitation provider is, after all, your largest vendor. No pressure, right?

With so much at stake, we recommend asking the following questions to every provider you interview before you make this crucial decision. At Evergreen, we take pride in being able to give the right answers to all these questions and back it up with our skill, service and performance every day.

1. Have they ever sent a long term care center into default rate, or initiated a claim in survey?
2. Are they large enough to efficiently handle your caseload, but small enough to eliminate costly and time-consuming bureaucracy?
3. Are their employees professional, positive and satisfied? Do they have low turnover and high productivity (even in rural markets)?
4. Do they use state-of-the-art software for accurate, streamlined billing?
5. Will they provide the high level of attention, management and service you expect and deserve from your biggest vendor?
6. Do they demonstrate a strong commitment to providing innovative rehab programs, such as VitalStim and R.A.M.P. (Rehabilitative Advance Modalities Program) Therapy?
7. Does their work consistently stand up to the scrutiny of Medicare, resulting in low denial rates – less than one percent over the life of the company?
8. Do they carry the costs of any Medicare denial until the case is resolved – even though they are not required to do so?
9. Are they owned and operated by individuals with long term care center administration experience, who understand the challenges and opportunities of your business?
10. Do they have a real appreciation of their tremendous responsibility, and a true dedication to restoring every patient’s dignity and quality of life?
